Artistic residencies at Teatro Aveirense

The first stage of the current artistic residencies’ cycle at Teatro Aveirense has been completed. During this quarter Teatro Aveirense receives five structures that have been taking on this space as the primary location for the development of their artistic projects, to be presented on their stages until December.

The first two artistic residencies took place in August and September, one of which had its final presentation on the 8th and 9th of September. It was ‘As Areias do Imperador’, a show staged by Victor de Oliveira with a cast of 15 performers, of various nationalities, which Teatro Aveirense co-produced. A residency that began on August 14th, with intense work lasting almost four weeks of creation.

Another residency that began this quarter was that of the Companhia de Música Teatral, which served to develope the show ‘Ornitópera’ until the 10th of September. It will premiere on the 21st and 22nd of October at Teatro Aveirense. This was the second residence developed by the company as part of this show, in a work carried out indoors and outdoors. ‘Ornitópera’ is a commission from Teatro Aveirense to the Companhia de Música Teatral.

In October, Teatro Aveirense welcomes, from the 7th to the 12th, the director Mickaël Oliveira to work on his show ‘Episódios da Vida Selvagem’, to be presented on the 13th of October at Teatro Aveirense. A visit that also includes a short films session at VIC Aveiro Arts House, on the 11th, and a lecture at Teatro Aveirense, on the 12th.

In November, between the 8th and 12th, actor João Reis and musician Nuno Aroso will be at Teatro Aveirense to develop the show 'Radiografia', which premieres on November 17th, establishing a dialogue between contemporary music and theater.
At the end of the same month, from the 20th, the company Red Cloud Teatro de Marionetas will also be at Teatro Aveirense developing its new show, 'Hansel and Gretel', which premieres from the 1st to the 3rd of December.
