Show co-produced by Teatro Aveirense wins international award for Best Opera

The show Ornitópera, by Companhia de Música Teatral (CMT), co-produced by Teatro Aveirense, won the Best Opera award at the Young Audiences Music Awards (YAMAwards) 2024. The show was nominated in the categories of Best Opera and Best Chamber Music Group and was also honored with the Public Choice award.
Created for children – but also for adults – Ornitópera tells the story of birds that, one day, come together in a large assembly to deal with serious problems faced by everyone. But it is also the story, or a metaphor, about what is most profound about the human being.
In this opera, co-produced by the Companhia de Música Teatral, Teatro Aveirense/Câmara Municipal de Aveiro and Casa das Artes de Vila Nova de Famalicão, communication is made through music, without words from beginning to end. The artistic direction is by Paulo Maria Rodrigues and the interpretation by Gustavo Paixão and Inês Rodrigues Silva. Its performance at Teatro Aveirense took place on October 21st and 22nd, 2023.
