Pa(i)ysage[n]s: a Chinese mast show debuts in Aveiro
Published at — 25 September 2024
The Chinese mast show Pa(i)ysage[n]s, written and performed by João Paulo Santos – a pioneer in contemporary circus in Portugal – is scheduled to premiere in Aveiro. The work, created specifically for Aveiro 2024 – Portuguese Capital of Culture, will be presented on September 27th, at 9:30 pm, at Teatro Aveirense.
In this presentation, the artist uses the Chinese pole to direct the viewer on a sensory and visual journey, similar to a pilgrim. An experience framed in a setting that recreates natural landscapes and explores the passage of time and our relationship with the world.
Pa(i)ysage[n]s is the most recent creation of João Paulo Santos, a pioneering artist in the national contemporary circus and whose career has always been linked to the Chinese mast technique.
