A journey through the depths of nature told by puppets
Published at — 2 April 2025
Jacarandá is a puppet theatre show, an intimate and wordless solo that will be performed next Sunday, April 6, at 4pm, in the Auditorium of the Sociedade Musical de Santa Cecília/São Bernardo.
Jacarandá is the brainchild of Adriana Melo and Magnum Soares, artistic directors of the Universo Paralelo company, one of the youngest organisations on the national artistic scene. With this show, they take the audience on a sensory journey through the depths of nature, revealing the beauty and mysteries hidden in the roots, trunks and tops of trees. The puppets are directly manipulated with wires, and the shadow technique and the handling of objects are also explored, with the aim of researching other forms of expression. Magnum Soares takes on the role of puppeteer and dancer, in a story without a text that is rocked by original music by Duda Somtopia and set design by Élio Antunes. A creation co-produced by the Museu da Marioneta/EGEAC and Real Pelágio Productions.
This show is part of the Aveirense Theatre's programme, as part of the Aveiro em Família programme, which Aveiro City Council promotes with the aim of involving the various generations in cultural enjoyment and deepening the local community's commitment to culture.
